That woman is at the hospital in serious but stable condition. Her family is by her side.

Police say based on the suspect's reckless driving, it's a miracle she's alive and no one else was hurt.

Jaw-dropping cell phone video shows the driver backing onto the sidewalk, running over an unsuspecting woman and crashing into a building at around 2:15 a.m. Saturday on South Broadway in Fells Point.

The woman was still lodged under the tires as the driver screeched off down the road.

"It's just horrific. I mean, it's beyond description," said Kat Dickinson, local business owner.

Police arrested the driver of the 1999 Honda Odyssey, 38-year-old Orlando Redd of Parkville. They say he was trying to get away from a group of men that was attacking him.

"He appeared to be a victim of an assault at a certain point, but our investigation also leads us to believe that this person was under the influence of alcohol," said T.J. Smith, Baltimore City Police Department.

You can still see the tire marks on the sidewalk where the van jumped the curb and struck that woman.

The bar the driver crashed into is still boarded up, which is why many people are saying the woman is lucky to be alive.

Friends tell WJZ the victim is 27-year-old Jill Boram. Thousands of people are showing their support on her GoFundMe page.

They say she was leaving her bartending job at the Dogwatch Tavern when the driver plowed right into her.

"She's very strong, and she's going to get through this, especially with the help of her family and the help of the community," said Lauren Lamon, victim's friend.

Facebook video appears to show the initial fight at a bar on the same block.

The man who filmed the dramatic video says he heard the men shouting.

"I expected some typical pushing and shoving, maybe a swing--just typical stuff. And yeah, it just got crazy," the man said.

Boram just married her husband, C.J., in October. Pictures on the couple's wedding website capture happier times.

She is in serious but stable condition at an area hospital, with a fractured skull and broken ribs.

Redd is in police custody. He is charged with several counts of assault and destruction of property.

Police officials are thanking the man who recorded the video, which they say has been very helpful in the investigation.
