Court Docs: Man Confesses To Killing Wife, Va. Officer

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WJZ)—A Virginia officer is killed on her first day patrolling the streets.

Officer Ashley Guindon, 28, Jesse Hempen, 31 and David McKeown, 33, were all responding to a domestic related incident on Saturday night when a gunmen opened fire.

Monday morning, the suspect Ronald Williams Hamilton appeared before a judge--who denied him bail.

Officer Ashley Guindon will be buried this week--as investigators work to understand how her accused killer spiraled out of control.

Officials say Hamilton was an Army staff sergeant assigned to the Pentagon.

Friends say he was jealous of his wife Crystal's work with wounded soldiers in Maryland.

After arguing all day, she called 9-1-1. Court documents obtained by WJZ reveal Hamilton confessed to killing his wife and Officer Guindon.

What has now happened in Virginia and happened recently in Harford County underscores the dangers these officers face on the job every day.

Guindon is the third member of law enforcement murdered in our area this month, following the killings of deputies Pat Dailey and Mark Logsdon.

Prosecutor Paul Ebert plans to ask for the death penalty for Hamilton.

This is not the accused killer's first run in with the law, he had an assault conviction in 2007 and got a slap on the wrist.

Officers Hempen and McKeown, who were also shot by Hamilton are both expected to survive.

Hamilton's next court appearance is set for late April.
