Officials Believe A Human Caused The Death Of 13 Bald Eagles

CAMBRIDGE, Md. (WJZ) -- The 13 bald eagles found dead in Federalsburg last month did not die of natural causes, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports.

According to the necropsy results, officials believe a human caused the death of those birds on Feb. 20.

Wildlife officials rules out Avian flu and other diseases as the eagles cause of death as well.

"Our investigation is now focused on human causes and bringing to justice the person(s) responsible for the death of these eagles. We cannot release further details about the cause of death as such information may compromise the ongoing investigation," officials said.

A $25,000 reward is available for information leading to an arrest.
