MTA Worker Injured In Parking Lot Explosion

PIKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- A vehicle explosion leaves a MTA employee injured in Baltimore County this morning.

It happened at the MTA Maintenance Facility parking lot around 8:00 a.m. in at 4380 Old Court Road in Pikesville.

According to investigators, the 64-year-old victim was transporting supplies to his personal vehicle to his work truck when an accidental explosion occurred involving compress has cylinders inside the truck of his personal vehicle.

The victim remains in critical condition after suffering serious injuries to his head, hands and chest.

Authorities say a total of nine vehicles were damaged, including three that went up in flames.

Investigators search the parking lot and MTA building and found no explosive materials.

No one else was inured in the incident.
