Presidential Candidates Courting Maryland Voters

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- We are just days away from Marylanders making their ballots in Tuesday's primary. Maryland is now one of the hot tickets in the race to the White House and the candidates are pulling out all the stops.

Marcus Washington reports top Republican contender Donald Trump was in Maryland Sunday and on the Democratic side, President Bill Clinton supported his wife Hillary's campaign here in Baltimore.

The clock is ticking and top candidates in both Republican and Democratic parties are doing what they can to rally up support ahead of Tuesday's primary.

A Baltimore Sun/University of Baltimore poll shows Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic primary by 61% over Bernie Sanders' 28%. In the Republican field, Donald Trump leads the pack with 34% of the primary votes.

"If I win and I become your president, you're going to see such a fast turn," Trump said.

Donald Trump held a rally in Hagerstown Sunday afternoon, trashing his fellow Republican opponents.

"This guy Cruz, Lyin' Ted Cruz...he is a liar," he said. "Kasich, I still don't get that. He is one for 38."

All while gearing up for the potential battle with Democratic leader Hillary Clinton.

"I'm so happy she's going to win because I really want to fight Hillary. I really do," he said.

From Hagersotwn to Baltimore City, where we found former President Bill Clinton supporting his wife and speaking to the Congregation at Carter Memorial Church of God in Christ.

Voting in Maryland's Tuesday primary starts at 7 a.m. and goes until 8 p.m.
