Bomb Threat At Annapolis Mall Deemed Hoax; No Device Found

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- A short time ago, a bomb threat ended at the Annapolis Mall, after shoppers and employees were forced to evacuate.

Amy Yensi has details on what sparked the scare.

Police say they did not find any device inside the mall. They had been investigating a possible bomb threat, which is why the mall was evacuated.

The mall is now open to the public again. Traffic is also flowing. Initially, traffic was being routed away from the area and shoppers were being told to get out of the mall.

People who were inside tell us they saw officers checking the food court but they were not being told why.

"It's a little scary and it's not very organized," said Peggy Abbott.

"Everybody started walking real fast. The security started chasing everybody out and police started chasing everybody out of the stores. `Everybody get out of the stores and go.' That's what they were saying. They wouldn't tell us why or nothing," said Carson Evans.

Police have not confirmed how the threat was made but again there was no bomb found.

Police began leaving the scene just after 5 p.m.
