911 Calls From Bomb Threat On TV Hill Released

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A frightening day for all of us on TV Hill when a man walked into Channel 45 in costume with what he said was a bomb.

Jessica Kartalija has the 911 calls from employees forced to evacuate until police could take the suspect into custody.

It was a frightening afternoon on TV Hill when 25-year-old Alex Brizzi walked into Fox 45 wearing a hedgehog costume, mask and wearing what he said was an explosive device across his chest.

"There's a man here who says he needs to air something on the news and he has a bomb," said one caller.

The station's security guard, Jay Apostolides, kept Brizzi calm while he called 911.

"He is a white male, he has glasses, he's covering up his face," the call said.

Then you hear the security guard telling staff to evacuate.

"There's a bomb threat. I need everyone to leave outside the sales door upstairs," he said.

Brizzi was transported to Shock Trauma in serious condition after being shot by police. He's accused of threatening to blow up the station after setting his car on fire in the parking lot.

"There's a car in our parking lot with the gas tank on fire," another call said.

Brizzi---from Howard County---was shot after he refused to comply with police.

Police discovered the device he was wearing was a life preserver with wires, a motherboard from a fire extinguisher and tinfoil-wrapped chocolate bars.

Brizzi's father says his son is troubled. Brizzi is being held without bail.

The officers involved have been placed on routine administrative leave.
