Brothers Accused In Deadly Police Station Ambush Indicted

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Michael, Elijah and Malik Ford -- the brothers accused in the March police station ambush in Prince George's County that ended in the death of Office Jacai Colson -- have been indicted, State's Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks announced Tuesday afternoon.

Michael Ford, 22, was indicted on 55 counts, including second-degree murder, attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Ford's brothers, Elijah and Malik, also were indicted on multiple counts, including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say Michael Ford, who had a documented history of mental illness, planned the March 13 attack and then enlisted his brothers, Elijah and Malik Ford to record the shooting. Michael Ford expected to die in the shootout.

Instead, Officer Jacai Colson was killed in the gun battle. Authorities say one of Colson's fellow officers fired the bullet that killed him in the confusion of the ambush.
