Orioles Insider Rich Dubroff On The Big Beatdown

Rich Dubroff joined Vinny and Rob to talk Orioles baseball and Jimenez's performance.

Ubaldo Jimenez took the mound yesterday and failed to make it out of the fifth inning for the third time in his last four starts, jump-starting talk that he could be Designated For Assignment. However, Dubroff doesn't think you can DFA a guy like Jimenez.

"Last year [Jimenez] pitched pretty well, this year he's really inconsistent. I think that Jimenez, he still has a year and two thirds left on his salary, he'll get another shot. Maybe one, maybe two, but they won't let him go," Dubroff said about Jimenez.

Dubroff also discussed the outfield situation of the Orioles, which is quite crowded at the moment, and that isn't a bad thing. Guys like Joey Rickard, Nolan Reimold and Hyun Soo-Kim are all performing well in different categories. He said that if one guy wants to pull away, they are going to have to go by Buck Showalter's saying. "Buck always likes to say 'if you want to play more, play better.' Rickard made that great play last night, and Rickard is a really, really good outfielder, but he has to do a better job of getting on base," quoted Dubroff.
