Man Charged With Trying To Run Over Officers

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A Baltimore man has been charged with first degree assault after authorities say he tried to run over two Baltimore County police officers.

According to police, officers were called to King Richard Court for a report of stalking. She told police that she had dated a man for two months and that after they broke up, he has been coming to her home despite being asked to leave her alone.

As they were leaving, the officers saw a car that matched the description of the ex-boyfriend's vehicle, a white Ford Expedition. The Expedition was circling the parking lot. An officer got out to ask the Expedition to stop but instead of stopping, the driver accelerated and didn't stop. The officer had to get out of the way. A second officer also motioned for the driver to stop and also had to jump out of the way.

The officers pursued the Expedition, which ultimately crashed into two other cars.

That man has been identified as Victor Jerome Rybak. He has been charged with two counts of first degree assault, traffic charges and other criminal charges. He is held on $200,000 bail.

Neither officer was injured.
