60-Year-Old Cyclist Dies After Collision With Trash Truck In Glen Burnie

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 60-year-old woman is dead after a trash truck hit her while she was riding a bike in Glen Burnie Monday morning.

The woman has been identified by Anne Arundel County Police as Irene Diane Szczesniak of Dryden Way in Crofton.

Officers responded to Central Avenue near Oak Lane in Glen Burnie and determined that the Bates Trucking trash truck was northbound in the southbound lane on Central Avenue making a right turn into Alley 206 when it hit Szczesniak, who was going northbound.

The driver of the truck has been identified as 24-year-old Jason Dearmus Manly, of Silver Spring.

There were two passengers in the truck. No one but Szczesniak was injured in the collision.

Traffic Safety is handling the investigation. Any charges are pending review by the States Attorney.
