Jury Convicts 3 Of Charges Stemming From Heroin-Dealing Gang

BALTIMORE (AP) — A jury has convicted three men for their activities in the Black Guerilla Family gang, which deals in heroin in the Baltimore area.

A U.S. attorney's office statement says the jury convicted Mark Bazemore, Michael Smith Jr. and Timothy Hurtt on Monday.

Prosecutors say Bazemore was a BGF leader who issued "sanctions" on several members, including one killed two years ago.

The statement says Bazemore, Smith and Hurtt participated in a racketeering conspiracy and drug conspiracy. The jury also convicted Bazemore and Hurtt of gun charges. And Bazemore was convicted of conspiring to commit murder in aid of racketeering, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, and a gun charge.
