Beyonce's Performance In Baltimore Big For Business

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It was one of the most anticipated concerts of the season. Beyonce performed for a sold out crowd at M&T Bank Stadium on Friday, with at least 70,000 people in attendance.

Ava-joye Burnett explains local businesses are hoping to reap the benefits.

For the second time in two years, Beyonce was back in Baltimore. M&T Bank Stadium was jumping.

"She's the best. She's everything. She's Beyonce, come on," said Cory Oliver. "You can't even explain it."

"We wanted to spend the day in Baltimore before the concert, and then we just saw that they were letting people park, so we just got an early parking spot," said Nicole Sarmento.

Beyonce's appearance in Baltimore is big for business.

"Last time Beyonce was in town with Jay Z, they sold out M&T Bank Stadium, and the economic impact depending on estimates was between $8 million and $11 million," said Mike Evitts, Downtown Partnership. "So that's a lot of money. That's a lot of direct money into Baltimore's economy."

"It means a lot to us. Last weekend, it was the Yankees, and this weekend is Beyonce, which is fantastic," said Ed Prutzer, The Rusty Scupper. "We can always see the reservations. Already, the reservations are building up a little bit."

At least 70,000 people showed up Friday night.

Baltimore has been working hard to draw big name artists. So far this year, Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna and Justin Bieber have been in town.
