Hogan Administration Pushes Back On EPA Power Plant Finding

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan's administration is challenging the federal government's finding that an Anne Arundel County power plant is likely violating air pollution control rules.

The Environmental Protection Agency has said that the Herbert A. Wagner Generating Station in Pasadena may be emitting too high levels of sulfur dioxide and may have to take steps to fix the problem.

But the Baltimore Sun reports that state officials say they've recently made changes to the plant that have lowered the sulfur dioxide pollution to safe levels.

The EPA has proposed declaring that the communities with about 22 miles of the plant are in violation of the sulfur dioxide standard.

The EPA is expected to make its final ruling on the issue by the end of the month.
