Baltimore Metro Subway to Partially Close for Weeks

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Metro Subway will be partially closing for a few weeks for critical maintenance work.

According to out media partner the Baltimore Sun, the Maryland Transit Administration announced Tuesday that the shutdown is expected to last from July 22 until Aug. 15. During that time the MTA will provide a free shuttle bus service between the three closed subway stations: Reisterstown Plaza, Rogers Avenue and West Cold Spring.

A separate express shuttle will run directly from Milford Mill to Mondawmin, bypassing the three stations.

The MTA says maintenance crews will be reconstructing three interlockings, the devices that allow trains to cross from one track to another. Crews will also replace old rails and clean the stations.

The MTA suggested that riders affected by the closures should plan for their journeys to take an extra hour each way.
