Hyun Soo Kim Placed On 15-Day Disabled List

Baltimore (WJZ) -- The Baltimore Orioles officially placed Hyun Soo Kim on the 15-day DL due to a right hamstring strain.

Hyun Soo Kim injured his hamstring on July 10th against the LA Angels while running to first base. Since then, Baltimore has taken the wait and see approach hoping that he would recover and avoid the DL.

Prior to the start of the season, many within the organization wished for him to be pushed back to the minors in order to refine his technique. But Hyun Soo Kim refused to make the move and due to the language on his contract, Baltimore was forced to respect his wishes. Since then, the South Korean product has been outstanding for the Orioles with a .329 batting average to go along with 3 homers and 11 RBI's.

Baltimore has called up Julio Borbon from Double-A Bowie to temporarily replace Kim's bat on the roster. The Orioles also designated Henry Urrutia for assignment.
