Woman Faces Animal Cruelty Charges After Dog Dies Of Heat Stroke

BELCAMP, Md. (WJZ) — A Harford County dog owner faces two counts of animal cruelty after her Labrador died of heat stroke.

Police say the dog was left on a second story deck on July 7 with no shade and little water. It was more than 90 degrees at the time. Police say the surface of the deck registered 109 degrees.

A neighbor had attempted to help the dog by wetting it down with a hose.

They say firefighters used ladders to climb up to the deck and remove the dog.

Alissa Rae Ham, 26, of the 1400 block of Tarragon Court in Belcamp, is scheduled to appear in court in September.
