WEATHER BLOG: Heat Wave!

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Hot Hot Hot! That will be the theme across our area this weekend. After reaching the mid-90s on Friday in Baltimore, the same will be in store for this weekend. On Saturday, a front will stall across our area. Along this front should be enough moisture for a shower or thunderstorm to rumble during the afternoon. Temperatures have a chance of reaching their peak before storms arrive. Highs were kept in the upper 90s, but should any storm arrive by the early afternoon, highs may only reach the mid-90s.

For Sunday, the stalled front on Saturday will move northward as a warm front ahead of a storm system for Monday. A southeast flow off the water could hold temperatures back a bit from Saturday but could still go into the mid-90s.

For Monday, the storm across the central U.S. will track northeastward toward Hudson Bay. With these types of storms, the potential for any widespread thunderstorms is not too common across our area as storms are more likely to be broken in nature. With the better dynamics into Canada, we suspect Monday will be nothing more than spotty showers and thunderstorms in some areas, with the better chance being in the afternoon. Any strong to severe weather potential is low at this time. Enough morning sun should send highs toward 100, challenging records.
