Former AACo. Teacher Found Guilty of Sexually Abusing 16-year-old Student

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—A former Anne Arundel County high school teacher has been found guilty of sex abuse of a minor, Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams announced on Monday.

Nathan Lee Martin, 39, was found guilty of sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense by a person in a position of authority, fourth-degree sexual contact, and the second-degree assault of a 16-year-old student.

Martin was an Arundel High School math teacher at the time of the incident.

"We should be able to entrust our children to the care of our teachers," said Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams. "I'm glad the jury held this criminal accountable for his actions."

Authorities say in December of 2015, the victim and her parents told police that Martin had summoned the student to a closet at the back of a classroom where he proceeded to touch her buttocks and place his face on her chest area.

Martin is scheduled to be sentenced on September 12, 2016 and faces a up to 25 years in prison.
