Man Struck By Boat Propeller In OC; Boat Operator Arrested

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ)—A man is lucky to be alive after the quick action by a Maryland Natural Resources Police officer in Ocean City over the weekend.

Authorities say they responded around 4:00 p.m. to the Isle of Wight Bay where a rental pontoon boat carrying seven people had run aground.

According to police, one of the boaters was bleeding profusely after his arm was struck by the boat's propeller.

NRP says one of their officers recognized the wound as a severed artery and applied a tourniquet to stop the blood flow until the victim could be taken ashore.

No one else was injured in the accident, however police say one of the boaters is facing charges.

The operator of the boat, Seth Murray Wilson, 21, of Delaware, was arrested after he failed field sobriety tests. Wilson refused a breathalyzer test.
