Police Find Driver Trapped In Burning Car In Mount Airy

MOUNT AIRY, Md. (WJZ)—A driver is dead after State Police find a person trapped inside a burning car early Saturday morning.

According to investigators, the driver of a 2002 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on Old National Pike around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, when for unknown reasons they left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and crash into a tree.

Police say they found the victim trapped inside a fully engulfed car in the 4600 block of Old National Pike. The driver--who is not being identified at this time--was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say they are continuing their investigation.
