Driver Sought After Truck Hits, Kills Cyclist

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 54-year-old Baltimore County man died after he was struck by a truck in a hit-and-run crash in Baltimore Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Ralph Myron Roane was riding his bike near the corner of Chester and Chase streets about 1:25 p.m. when the truck hit him, according to police.

The driver of the truck did not stay at the scene, police said, and was last seen heading north on Chester Street.

Roane was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

A man who was up the street talking to a friend at the time of the crash told WJZ's George Solis he overheard the collision.

"The next thing I know, I hear a crash. Boom! I look down the street and I just see somebody laying down," said the man, who identified himself as Samuel.

Samuel told WJZ Chester Street is typically busy and frequented by truck traffic.

"A lot of trucks, a lot of traffic all the time, all day long," he said.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call police at 410-396-2606.
