71-Year-Old Joppa Man's Body Recovered In Dark Head Creek

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The body of a man who went missing after his boat partially capsized on Dark Head Creek, a tributary of Middle River, was recovered Thursday morning, according to Natural Resources Police.

A Baltimore County fire spokesperson said Wednesday that family saw the man, now identified as 71-year-old Richard A. miller, of Joppa, run into issues on the water. They called 911, but it was too late.

Sky Eye Chopper 13 Captain Jeff Long reported that dive teams and several boats were out looking for him, and that Baltimore County Fire and Rescue was being assisted by the Coast Guard.

The last few days have been deadly for boaters in Maryland.

Also on Wednesday, a nine-year-old boy fell off a boat near Ocean City and got hit by the propeller. He later died.

Over the weekend, a kayaker and boater drowned in two separate incidents.

Last year, 21 people died in boating-related fatalities. So far this year, there have been at least 11 deaths in the state.
