Phelps Featured On Special "Lifetime Achievement" Wheaties Box

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A special "Lifetime Achievement" version of the iconic Wheaties cereal box was awarded to Michael Phelps.

Phelps ruled the pool at the Olympics in Rio and added six more medals (five gold, one silver) to his already-impressive collection, making him the most decorated Olympian in history.

"I am honored to receive the first Lifetime Achievement box from Wheaties. For me it's another achievement that I've been able to accomplish that is still so wild to think of," Phelps said.

All told, he has 18 gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze after competing in five games -- Sydney, Athens, Beijing, London and Rio. He was just 15 when he competed in Australia in 2000.

This is the third Wheaties box for swimmer Michael Phelps. The tradition of athletes on the cereal boxes has included hundreds of various athletes from many different sports, and also team depictions.
