Student Found Dead In Morgan State Building Not Seen Or Heard From In Weeks

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The body of a 45-year-old graduate student who had not been seen or heard from since August 4 was found in a Morgan State University building Tuesday morning.

A call came in to the Baltimore Police Department at 10:51 a.m., and officers responded to the second floor of the CBEIS building (Center for the Built Environment and Infrastructure Studies) at 1700 East Cold Spring Lane.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to a room where maintenance workers found the body after students noticed a foul odor.

"This individual had been dead for probably several days, maybe even a couple weeks," said  Morgan State University Spokesperson Clinton Coleman.

The student, who's not being identified, was studying engineering. Investigators say the last time he entered the building was on August 4th.

People who knew the man said he had been ill for quite some time. The death does not appear to be the result of foul play.

"It's shocking to hear that there's a dead body in there. I'm surprised," said one student

Students tell WJZ they sometimes spend they night in laboratories while working on projects and have swipe card access to the building.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident and cause of death will be determined by a pending autopsy.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call detectives at 410-396-2100.
