The Manhunt is On for Norris Dail Sr., Accused Of Kidnapping Son

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The nationwide manhunt continues for a father accused of kidnapping his four-year-old son. Just hours after the boy went missing in Florida, he was found safe in Baltimore.

Norris Dail Sr., 26, is from Baltimore City. Police say they're now assisting Jacksonville authorities with the investigation.

The investigation started with the little boy's mother being murdered, now it stretches more than 700 miles as police continue to search for Dail Sr.

"Dail Sr. is an individual who is missing and we still need to talk to," said a Jacksonville sheriff's deputy.

The drama unfolded Wednesday morning when the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office found a woman dead inside an apartment complex.

Shortly after, authorities issued an Amber Alert for Norris Dail Sr. and his four-year-old son, Norris Jr., who were last seen leaving the complex.

A few hours later, Baltimore City police found the child safe in Maryland with his family. Witnesses say Dail Sr. dropped the boy off, but by 6 p.m., the father was still nowhere to be found.

"We found the little boy, he was safe and unharmed. We are doing whatever we can to assist the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department," said spokesman Donny Moses, Baltimore City Police Department.

Authorities desperately want to question the 26-year-old in the death of the woman, who was his girlfriend and the boy's mother.

According to online court documents, Dail Sr.'s last known address in Maryland was in Dundalk. The documents also show the 26-year-old had a history of domestic violence and was in a custody battle.

Both domestic violence cases were filed more than a year ago..

"I'd say probably about last month I seen him," a stunned former neighbor said.

Authorities believe the 26-year-old is driving a silver 2000 Mitsubishi with Maryland tags that read "1BK9546" and a Ravens specialty plate.

For safety reasons, police can't say where the little boy was found or where he is.

Authorities describe Dail Sr. as black, with black hair and brown eyes, about 6 feet tall and 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light gray shirt with black shorts.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Norris Dail Sr. or his car are urged to call police immediately.
