Montgomery County Officials To Get Education Update

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — The Montgomery County Council is scheduled to get an update from local school officials on efforts to reduce class size.

The council is meeting Tuesday afternoon in Rockville.

Council members also are slated to hear from local school officials about efforts to address the opportunity gap.

Jack Smith, superintendent of schools, is expected to provide an update. Other officials set to address the council include Chief Academic Officer Maria Navarro and Associate Superintendent of Elementary Schools LaVerne Kimball.

Local officials steered resources to help reduce class size and address the opportunity gap in the budget for the current fiscal year.
