Baltimore Ravens Week 7 Injury Report: Joe Flacco Likely To Play Versus Jets

By Daniel Benjamin

The Baltimore Ravens (3-3) listed a season-high 13 players on their injury list on Friday as they prepare to play the New York Jets at Metlife Stadium. Nine of the 13 players that the Ravens have listed are starters.

Starting quarterback Joe Flacco is one of the biggest names on the injured list with a bum right shoulder. The good news is that Flacco was able to practice on Friday after not practicing on Wednesday and Thursday. Coach John Harbaugh said that he will see how Flacco's shoulder responds on Saturday before deciding to go with him or backup Ryan Mallett.

The Ravens will likely rely more on their running game on Sunday regardless of whether Flacco or Mallett gets the call. Flacco leads the league in attempts and completions through the first six weeks.

Baltimore's other major injury concerns are at linebacker and cornerback. The Ravens have three starting linebackers on the list with Elvis Dumervil and C.J. Mosley already ruled out, while Terrell Suggs was listed as doubtful (as he was limited in practice on Friday). This is the second straight week that Dumervil and Mosley will miss a game. Albert McClellan will likely start at one linebacker and Za'Darius Smith and Matt Judon could start for Dumervil and/or Suggs.

Jimmy Smith wore a non-contact jersey all week due to a concussion he suffered last week. Fellow cornerbacks Jerraud Powers and Shareece Wright are also banged up. Rookie Tavon Young is slated to have his second start of the season if someone is unable to go.

Ronnie Stanley Finally Returns

Starting left tackle Ronnie Stanley has participated fully in practice this entire week for the first time since injuring his foot four weeks ago. The rookie has missed the last three games with the injury. This is very good news for the Ravens as their offensive line has struggled without him. In the three games Stanley missed, Flacco was sacked seven times and pressured a NFL-high 52 times.

Right tackle Rick Wagner also did not play against the Giants in Week 6 due to a thigh injury. Since he was not listed on the injury report, Wagner will presumably start against the Jets. However, Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda may miss his second straight game.

Jets Injury Report

The Jets listed 14 players on their injury report this week, but only gave updates on seven players on Friday. The most concerning of the injuries are to rookie linebacker Darren Lee (out), DE Muhammad Wilkerson and three offensive linemen. Lee has been the team's top defensive playmaker with 30 stops, including a half-sack. Veteran linebacker David Carter is expected to take Lee's place in the starting lineup.

Wilkerson was expected to be part of one of the AFC's best defensive line's this year, but has yet to live up to the hype after recording 10 sacks last year; he has only 1.5 this year. The 26-year-old did not practice Friday as his ankle injury is reportedly getting worse, though he is officially listed as questionable.

The three offensive linemen on the report are LT Ryan Clady (questionable), C Nick Mangold (questionable) and Brent Qvale (out). Clady and Mangold were both limited in practice on Friday, but both are expected to play. Qvale's unavailability means that Ben Ijalana will have to play the entire game at right tackle.
