3 Vehicle Collision Sends Deputy Sheriff to Shock Trauma

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A Carroll County deputy sheriff was taken to Shock Trauma Friday after being involved in a three-vehicle car accident.

Around 8:42 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Piney Ridge Parkway and Maryland Route 32, where they found Carroll County Master Deputy Barget, involved in an accident with a marked Carroll County Sheriff's Office Dodge Charger and two other cars.

The investigation revealed that Elisha Josue Rivera, 21, of Eldersburg was traveling south on Route 32 in a Honda Accord and reportedly entered the intersection while the traffic light was red and struck a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a teenage female, who had a man and teenage boy in the vehicle. The Silverado then struck the deputy, who was traveling east on Piney Ridge Parkway, preparing to make a left onto Route 32.

The teenage boy in the Silverado was transported to an area hospital as a precaution and the deputy was flown to Shock Trauma, both with non life-threatening injuries. The others involved refused medical assistance.
