Prince George's Co. Dad Faces First-Degree Murder Charges In Death Of Newborn Son

UPPER MARLBORO (WJZ) -- Prince George's County State's Attorney announced Wednesday that a father faces first degree murder charges in the death of his newborn son.

According to prosecutors, Antoine Petty beat the two month old to death at a his home on September 21.

Investigators said Petty and his wife, Geneice, were home when his son began crying.   That is when detectives claim Petty took the baby outside and hit him several times.  He then brought the child back inside and handed him to his wife.  When the child continued to cry, police said Petty repeated his beating.

The child later died from his injuries.  Police claim the couple left the infant's body in the back of their car for at least a day, then buried him in a shallow grave behind Parkdale High School.
Family members later filed a missing person's report.  Police found the infant's buried body on October 19.
Petty is currently behind bars on a no bond status awaiting trial.
His wife was in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.  Her trial is also moving forward.  She remains behind bars on a $120,000 bond.
