"We've got a lot of work to do. And I'm looking forward to us doing the work," she said.

And she's got a lot of issues to tackle, including negotiations in a federal oversight and an agreement for the City Police Department.

WJZ spoke to Baltimore residents about what they hope the new Mayor will tackle with her time as the head of the city.

"We've got to get crime down in our city. But we don't want people overly arrested and a lack of affordable housing," said

"We can't be the homeless capital of Maryland." Mayor Pugh says she is reconsidering Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's controversial plan to sell four city parking garages to fund recreation centers.

"I'm going to evaluate the parking garages because they're an asset, they give off revenue," she said.
