Two Rescued From Burning Home By Balto Co Officers & Good Samaritan

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Two people were rescued from a burning home in Essex on Tuesday night by two Baltimore County Police, along with a bystander who came to help at the scene.

Baltimore County Police say just before midnight police, along with fire crews, arrived at a home in the 600 block of South Marlyn Avenue in Essex. Police say there were flames coming from the house.

Police say that two Baltimore County Police officers and a Good Samaritan immediately went into the home and evacuated a 39-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man from the basement and were able to get out of the burning building with no injuries.

The Fire Department later evacuated a 39-year-old woman from a first-floor room. Authorities say that the woman who was evacuated by the Fire Department was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation. Her current condition is not known.

The two BCoPD officers who made the rescues were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation. Both officers were later released.

Investigators say the incident is under review by Baltimore County Fire and Police. They say the cause of the fire has not been determined and there no evidence of criminal activity at this time.
