Tucker's Perfect Record Shattered By Tricky Patriots Play

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Baltimore Ravens' 'can't-miss' kicker's perfect season ended suddenly last night against the New England Patriots.

Tucker, who was just one kick short of tying Matt Stover's team record of 36 in a row, was the only NFL kicker with a perfect season.

The real 'kicker' is that it wasn't that Tucker actually missed sending the ball through the uprights, but that the Patriots' Shea McClellin leapt over the middle of the line at the perfect time and batted down the 34-yard field-goal attempt.

But Tucker said he didn't care about his streak ending. "I'm usually pretty focused on foot-to-ball contact watching the ball as it comes back," Tucker said. "But, in my periphery, I could see opposite color and it didn't look good. I think the guy just made a heck of a play. They clearly had something schemed up on us and it worked."

Tucker was one of the main reasons the Ravens avoided a shut out in the first half. He is now 9-of-9 on kicks beyond 50 yards this season.

Tucker's streak was tied for the fifth-longest in NFL history.
