Victoria's Secret: Customers Should Be Treated with Dignity
OXFORD, Ala. (AP) — Victoria's Secret says all customers should be treated with dignity regardless of race.
The company's statement issued Saturday comes after a customer complained of being racially profiled at one of the company's stores at the Quintard Mall in Oxford.
Kimberly Houzah told news outlets she and another black woman were asked to leave the store by a manager last Wednesday after another African-American woman — whom Houzah said she didn't know — was accused of shoplifting.
The company says the incident should not have happened, company officials have apologized to the customers and the manager is no longer employed there.
The company said staff in the Alabama district have been given additional training in the company's inclusion policies and it's working to expand that training to all of their stores.
