Man Killed While Pumping Gas, City's Homicide Toll Increases Again

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 21-year-old man is dead after Baltimore Police officers found him suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso around 11:30 Wednesday night.

Investigators believe the victim was approached by an unidentified suspect while pumping gas in the 5100 block of York Road.

Gunfire was exchanged between the two, and the suspect fled on foot.

The other man died at a hospital.

Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.

Also on Wednesday, Southern District patrol officers responded to the 400 block of South Monroe Street for a report of an unresponsive person shortly after 8 a.m.

Upon their arrival, they found a 31 year-old man suffering from trauma to the head. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Homicide detectives are investigating.

The deaths will increase Baltimore's 2016 homicide rate, which surpassed the 300 mark this week.

Shortly after midnight on Thursday morning, police also investigated a non-fatal shooting in the 1300 block of Sargent Street in which a 23-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were shot, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

All victims were transported to an area hospital where they are listed in stable condition, the 31 year-old female victim was treated and released.
