BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Pocomoke City Police discovered a suspect connected to sexual assaults dead on his apartment bed Thursday.

Around 2 p.m. officers attempted to locate Christopher Wayne Cuono, 44, at the New Town apartments, on active warrants out of Accomack County, Virginia.

The warrants were for sexual assaults that Cuono allegedly committed in Virginia.

Police entered the suspect’s apartment and encountered a locked bedroom door. They could see Cuono lying on his back in bed with a handgun on his chest.

Officers requested the assistance of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police to secure the area and make a safe entry into the apartment to take Cuono into custody.

A search warrant was obtained and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team entered the apartment and located Mr. Cuono deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation is ongoing.
