BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Howard County police are investigating a domestic murder-suicide that occurred in Ellicott City Monday night.

Detectives believe Samuel Lancelotta, 48, shot his wife Beth, also 48, and then himself in the backyard of their residence in the 4600 block of Sheppard Lane around 10:40 p.m.

Police responded to the residence when one of the couple’s teenage sons called 911 to report a shooting.

Officers arrived and found Samuel and Beth Lancelotta suffering from gunshot wounds in the yard behind their home.

Both were transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A motive for the shooting is unknown. Investigators believe the couple’s three teenage children were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

There are no indications that anyone else was involved in the incident.

This story will be updated as more details become available.
