Police Make Arrest In Kidnapping Of 1-Year-Old In Woodlawn

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police say a suspect has been charged with kidnapping, after a baby girl was taken Saturday evening.

Police say one-year-old Kalani Woods was later found Saturday evening by police, located in the Wilkins area of Baltimore County.

Police say officers responded to the Motel 6 at the 1600 block of Whitehead Court for a possible injury, however, after investigation, they began looking into a kidnapping.

The baby's mother, Dominique Manago, told officers that a friend of hers, a 65-year-old man had been caring for her child.

She tells officers that the man had her daughter Kalani in his car when he knocked on the door of her motel room.

According to Manago, the man had asked to use the bathroom in her room but she refused to let him in. He then became angry and started banging on the door.

She says after this he left and took off in the car with the young girl still inside.

Police say Manago then ran after the suspect's car to get her daughter back, but he continued to speed up and even drove in reverse to get out of reach and eventually left the motel parking lot. Police say the mother fell and got some scrapes from the chase with the car.

Police later spotted the suspect in his car, and located the one-year-old unharmed.
