MD 140 Near Baltimore, Carroll County Line Closed After Crash

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Maryland State Police are investigating a crash in Carroll County that involved a suspected impaired driver and six vehicles early Monday morning.

During rush hour, troopers were called to eastbound route 140 (Balimore Blvd.) for a multiple vehicle crash. They arrived to six vehicles scattered across the the lane of the highway in both directions.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that just before 8:00 a.m., Todd Selby, the driver of a Ford pickup truck involved in the crash, was traveling westbound on Route 140 in the first lane,east of Westminister Pike. Selby then crossed the double yellow line and struck a dump truck head on causing a chain reaction for four vehicles behind the dump truck.

The roadway was closed for about two hours in both directions.

Selby was flown by State Police Medevac to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment. Police suspect alcohol may have been a contributing circumstance to the crash. No charges have been placed, but they are pending.

Another one of the victims was Lance Brobosky of Finksburg. He was operating a 2009 Honda SUV and transported by ambulance to Carroll General Hospital or medical treatment.

The remaining victims involved in the crash are identified as Daniel Kurnik, 38, of York, Pennsylvania, Joanna Harmon, 60, of Finksburg, Andrew Fisher, 21, of Finksburg, and Davig Grahl, 52, Linthicum Heights.

Grahl was the only driver with a passenger in his car, 43-year old Charles Ludwig III.

Troopers believe Selby may have been driving under the influence. hey will be consulting with the Carroll County State's Attorney's Office regarding charges upon completion of investigation.

The accident is still under investigation.
