Student Found With Loaded Gun At Baltimore School

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A student was found with a loaded gun at a Baltimore City Public School Thursday.

A Baltimore school police officer recovered the loaded gun at Carver Vocational-Technical High School.

The gun was found after school police received an anonymous tip.

Students were stunned when they found out, most heard after dismissal.

"They be getting checked in the morning, how didn't they find that?" one student said.

The district spokesperson said the school was not placed on lock-down because both the gun and student were located without incident.

"Concerned because now I feel like my safety is in danger and I don't feel too comfortable about going to school," another student said.

The student was arrested and taken to Central Booking for processing.

This is the second time in a year a loaded gun has been found at Carver. Last February, an officer took a loaded gun from a student at the school.

"A gun is unacceptable, I don't know why they would bring something that dangerous to school," a student said.

"That's something that can't be overlooked really because you're talking about a loaded gun now," grandparent Dallin Smith said.

In accordance with City Schools' Code of Conduct, the student faces the maximum consequences, including possible permanent expulsion.
