The holiday season is a wonderful time to share with family and friends. It is often filled with fun, food and activities that become traditions in any family. Baltimore offers events in which all family members can share as they bond in the spirit of the holiday season.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is world-renowned for its dynamic music. The orchestra annually sets the stage for the holiday season with its rendition of "Handel's Messiah." The performance is sure to highlight the renewing of faith as it presents this work conducted by Edward Polochick and sung by the Baltimore Symphonic Chorale. The concert will take place in two locations this year. Performances will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the hall and Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore.

Maestro Ken Lam will conduct this timeless re-enactment of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." Set to a jazzy beat a la Duke Ellington, the holiday story of young Fitz, Claire and the Stahlbaum family will please all of your family members as the tale is told through this ballet performance. The performance will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. In addition, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will once again perform "The Nutcracker" along with students from the Baltimore School for the Arts. Showtime performances are on December 19, 20 and 21.

"It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play"

The audience will enjoy this interactive radio play by Frank Capra as George Bailey's life is touched by an angel named Clarence. Clarence comes to earth as a result of the prayers of George's children. The angel takes George on a retrospective of what life would have been like had he not been born. Adapted by Joe Landry and directed by Nelson Eusebio, this interactive play is appropriate for the entire family and shows that prayers are answered.

This is the newest theatre in the Baltimore area. Founder Ian Gallanar presents a modern-day adaptation of Charles Dickens' holiday tale of Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
