Dads are special for so many reasons that when Father’s Day comes around each year, both kids and moms are always on the lookout for that extra-special gift to show him just how much he’s loved. While some dads really do appreciate another new tie, others look forward to celebrating the holiday doing the activities they love with the ones they love. Whether it’s spending a beautiful day outside or a pampering yourself day inside, this list has something that every dad can enjoy in the Baltimore area. Then, no matter which activity you choose, top the day off with a big hug and “I love you.”

Yellow perch, northern pike and largemouth bass are just a few of the fish waiting to be caught by dad and you at the Loch Raven Fishing Center. Open Fridays through Mondays at 7 a.m., rent a boat and spend a relaxing day fishing and soaking in the scenery on the 2,400-acre reservoir. The center sells live bait, fishing tackle and even snacks in case you should run out. However, be sure to plan this visit in advance as a current seasonal permit is required and dad will need a fishing license, even if the kids don’t.

Tournament tested by professional golfers like Arnold Palmer, who played and won his second U.S. victory when the PGA had tournaments here, the classic design of the course is a favorite even among amateur golfers. For busy dads, the early bird special is a great deal where golfers can tee off in the first hour of operation each day. For the gift that keeps on giving, Mount Pleasant also hosts golf leagues and clubs for beginners to advanced players throughout the year.
