Best Art Classes For Adults In Baltimore

Expressing your creativity through art is a great way to allow your mind to grow and expand. The arts provide a means for self-discipline and empowerment, as well as enrichment. In the Baltimore area, there are several venues that offer art classes to help adults with self-expression while allowing for an outlet for the diverse talents in the community.

Baltimore Clayworks is one of the most popular places in the area to learn the art of ceramics. Located in the Mount Washington area of the city, Baltimore Clayworks offers hands-on classes, workshops, lectures and opportunities to speak with the artists. There are classes for the beginner to the advanced artist. The hours of operation are Wednesdays through Fridays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 pm to 5:00 pm.

Jubilee Arts offers programming in a variety of the arts, including dance, visual arts, creative writing and ceramics. The center has been in existence since 1996. According to the website, "Jubilee Arts is located on Pennsylvania Avenue, an area with a rich history of African-American culture, and is helping to bring the arts back to life in our community." Classes are available at various times throughout the year, along with exhibits. Eight week summer classes this year take place from June 13 through August 5, 2016; fall classes are from October 3 to December 9, 2016.

The Corradetti Glassblowing Studio and Gallery offers hands-on classes to instruct beginning to advanced students in the art of glassblowing. Corradetti offers small class sizes with no prior experience needed. Students can create items such as eggs, flowers, glasses and paperweights. The hours of operation are Sundays, from 11:00 am to 3:00pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and Thursdays through Saturdays, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.

According to the website, Staub Art Studio is a "Maryland art school dedicated to giving our students the personal attention that helps a good artist become a great artist." The studio uses a range of mediums from pastels, graphite, watercolor, oils and acrylics and charcoal, depending upon the class. Services are provided for students aged eight and above. Classes are reasonably priced and last for one hour and 45 minutes. Class sizes are limited to 14 students and are for beginning to advanced levels. Staub Art Studio is located in western Baltimore County.

MICA features undergraduate classes for adults in various fields of study at reasonable and competitive tuition prices. The school has become one of the foremost leaders in the area offering rigorous coursework in the arts. Majors include animation, ceramics, drawing, sculpture, painting and photography, among others. Maryland Institute College of Art is located in Central Baltimore City in close proximity to the new Baltimore Arts District, Station North.
