Pierogies originated from Poland. They are basically a square-shaped piece of dough stuffed with some kind of filling and folded over, as a dumpling. Pierogies are usually served hot, and the stuffings can vary depending upon a person's taste or preference. They are very popular around Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day, but they can be enjoyed at any time of the year. In the Baltimore area, there are many different recipes people use when making pierogies. Here is a list of some of the best places to get pierogies in the Baltimore area.

Ostrowski's is well-known in the area and beyond for its Polish sausage. However, they also serve the traditional pierogies. Usually stuffed with potatoes, farmer's cheese, sauerkraut or whatever you prefer, Ostrowski's selections are sure to suit your fancy. This store is extremely busy throughout the Easter season with lines that tend to wrap around the block. Ostrowski's is open Mondays - Fridays from 9 am - 8 pm and Saturdays from 9 am - 5 pm.
