TIMELINE | When Will Snow Arrive In Maryland Saturday?

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Parts of Maryland are expecting some snow Saturday.

Although there's not a large amount of snow expected Saturday -- one to two inches in the Baltimore metro area and areas to the north and west and an inch or less to the south and east -- the timing of the weather may force some to change their plans.

The snow event has shifted to later in the morning than originally expected.

WJZ's weather team is tracking the system and here's when forecasters believe the wintry mix will arrive.

Late morning -- This is when any snow will fall. Radar returns show snow is in the atmosphere but is not reaching the ground. If the snow doesn't fall by around noon, it will likely be too warm and switch over to rain and sleet.

Lunchtime -- Snow mixes with sleet. Some freezing rain possible in western Md.

Early to mid-afternoon  -- Change over to rain, followed by gradual clearing.

High temperatures Saturday will reach the upper 30s and lows will only fall into the mid-30s overnight.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and brisk with a high of 41.

The cold air is going to stick around so keep that winter coat handy.

A full list of warming centers in the Baltimore area can be found here.
